E-resource record quality checklist
This list lists general guidelines for MARC 21 bibliographic fields to be included in bibliographic records for electronic resources. Batch loaded electronic resources are evaluated separately using an evaluation form.

E-Books:
LDR (top left corner) - Fixed field form type = BOOKS
LDR (position 07) BLvl - Bibliographic Level = ‘m’ for monograph
LDR (position 18) - Desc or descriptive cataloging form = i’ for RDA
For the fixed field 008:
008 (position 23) - Form = ‘o’ for online
E-journals:
LDR (top left corner) - Fixed field form type = CONTINUING RESOURCES
LDR (position 07) - BLvl Bibliographic Level = ‘s’ for serial
LDR (position 18) - Desc or or descriptive cataloging form = 'i’ for RDA
For the fixed field 008:
008 (position 23) - Form = ‘o’ for online
Fixed fields Databases and websites:
LDR (top left corner) - Fixed field form type = CONTINUING RESOURCES
LDR (position 07) - BLvl Bibliographic Level = ‘i’ for integrating resource
LDR (position 18) - Desc or or descriptive cataloging form = ‘i’ for RDA

006 - Additional Material Characteristics
Field is included in record
007 - Physical Description Fixed Field (Electronic Resource)
Field is included in record
1xx - Author (If present in record)
Author is accurate
245 - Title and statement of responsibility
(subfield a & b) title and subtitle are accurate
(subfield c) statement of responsibility is accurate (If present in record)
1XX or 7XX
Either a 1xx or 7xx field is present in record if an author is named in 245 $c
250 - Edition (If present in record)
Edition matches resource being cataloged
264 - Publication
Place of publication, publisher name, and date of publication match resource
336 - Content type - As appropriate based on material type
Text based resources - text ǂb txt ǂ2 rdacontent
Streaming video - two-dimensional moving image ǂb tdi ǂ2 rdacontent
Images or photographs - still image ǂb sti ǂ2 rdacontent
Streaming audio - music - performed music ǂb prm ǂ2 rdacontent

337 - Media type

6XX - Subject
Record has at least one subject (unless it’s a book of literature)
655 - Genre/Form heading for E-Books
Record has a 655 _4 Electronic books. (for e-books, not databases, or e-journals)
7XX - Author/editor/creator/contributor (If present in record)
Author is accurate
Search OCLC for a better record if record is not up to quality standards.
