Computers

There are 144 computer workstations in the Learning Commons on the Lower Level of the Du Bois Library and 79 workstations in the Science & Engineering Library. Here's a complete list of software available to UMass Amherst students, faculty, and staff by logging in with a NetID and password.

Printing

There are pay-for-print black & white and color printers located in the Du Bois Library Learning Commons and on the main (2nd) floor of the Science and Engineering Library.  There is also a black & white only printer outside the Graduate Commons on the 5th floor of the  Du Bois Library

Printing from PCs requires a UCard or guest card (available for purchase in the Learning Commons). Follow the instructions at the printing stations, or ask for assistance at the Learning Commons and Technical Support Desk

How do I pay for printing?

The pay-for-print stations accept a UCard (UMass ID card) with money on the account or a Guest Card. You can add money to your UCard or purchase a Guest Card at the black machine mounted on a brick columns near the print stations and copiers on the Lower Level of the Du Bois Library and at the grey machine next to the entrance to the Science and Engineering Library. These machines accept $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills. 

How do I print?

Brief instructions on how to print documents using PCs in the Learning Commons, IT Computer Classrooms, and the Science & Engineering Library. 

You can also take advantage of remote printing to print a document from anywhere on campus to the black-and-white and color printers in the Learning Commons, Science and Engineering Library, or Computer Classrooms..   

Scanners

There are 5 MDS touchscreen scanners in the located in the W.E.B. Du Bois Library Learning Commons. The Science & Engineering Library also has 5 touchscreen scanners.

Faxing

There is a FAX24 machine available for use on the Lower Level of the Du Bois Library.  The machine takes up to 8 pages of letter/legal size paper.  Instructions are posted on the machine. Sending a FAX requires a credit card or other card with a Visa or Mastercard logo on it. The machine does not receive faxes.

Wireless Access

Only UMass Amherst faculty, staff, and students with current, valid NetIDs may access the wireless network. Here are full details on how to connect.
