Open Scholarship & Scholarly Publishing
“Open Scholarship” is an umbrella term for open access, open data, open educational resources, open research, and open science. The UMass Amherst Libraries has a longstanding commitment to open scholarship aimed at increasing sustainable systems of open infrastructure and open access for barrier-free use and re-use of scholarly works.
Please see our guide on Open Scholarship & Scholarly Publishing for a more in-depth explanation of these and other topics:
- UMass Open Access Publisher Agreements & Advocacy with author benefits
- SOAR (“Supporting Open Access Research”) Fund, a limited source of monies to support UMass Amherst faculty, students, and staff who choose to publish in open access platforms but lack other sources of funding for author processing charges (APC).
- ORCiD unique researcher identifiers, a platform for sharing comprehensive, validated researcher data about their education, funding, works and publications, peer review activities, professional associations, invited positions and distinctions, and more.
- Choosing your publisher, predatory publishers and peer review
