Information Literacy Program Components
Librarians are assigned to all undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs offered by the University. Librarians work with instructional faculty to develop the information literacy skills relevant to those majors and for the professions related to those majors.
I. Activities
Information literacy objectives are attained through various activities developed collaboratively by librarians and faculty. These include:
- Syllabi, assignments, and class discussions led by faculty and instructors that incorporate information literacy
- Scholarly resources embedded into SPARK, course web pages, blogs and UMass Online
- Tutorials and online information literacy modules created by librarians
- Information-seeking and evaluation skills classes conducted by librarians
- Information literacy instruction by librarian-trained instructors
- Assignment consultation between faculty and librarians
- Research consultations conducted by librarians, at the Libraries and other campus locations
- Subject Research Guides created by librarians
